Systems for the use of PPE as a control
PPE is the least preferred option on the hierarchy of controls, but it is no less important. It's therefore vital that PPE is appropriately selected, worn and maintained. This becomes even more critical when the level of required protection is highly dependent on how effectively the PPE is fitted and worn by a worker such as close-fitting respiratory protection equipment (RPE) and hearing protection devices (HPD). Fit can be an ignored component of the correct application of PPE for individual workers yet, one size does not fit all.
This presentation looks at PPE selection, considerations, why PPE is not worn and the importance of fit testing.
